\"\"Vor kurzem erreichte uns die Nachricht, dass der US-amerikanische J. Paul Getty Trust die lizenzierte Datenbank Bibliography of the History of Art<\/em> (BHA) bzw. International Bibliography of Art<\/em> (IBA) nicht mehr weiterf\u00fchren kann. Zum 1. April verlor damit die Freie Universit\u00e4t ihre Lizenzen f\u00fcr die BHA\/IBA, sowie deren Vorg\u00e4nger R\u00e9pertoire d’Art et d’Arch\u00e9ologie<\/em> (RAA) und International Repertory of the Literature of Art<\/em> (RILA).<\/p>\n

Die BHA\/IBA gilt als Standardbibliographie zur europ\u00e4ischen Kunstgeschichte. Die Datenbank umfasst Literatur zur europ\u00e4ischen Kunst von der Sp\u00e4tantike bis zur Gegenwart, amerikanische Kunst von den europ\u00e4ischen Entdeckungen bis zur Gegenwart sowie christliche Kunst aus allen Teilen der Welt.<\/p>\n

Als Ausgleich bietet der Getty Trust nun einen kostenfreien Zugriff auf das BHA mit dem Datenbestand von 1990 bis 2007 an (mittlerweile in der Digitalen Bibliothek der FU<\/a> vertreten). Erg\u00e4nzt wird dies um Best\u00e4nde der International Bibliography of Art <\/em>von 2008 und (teilweise) 2009. Zus\u00e4tzlich wird ab 1. Mai 2010 das International Repertory of the Literature of Art<\/em> (RILA) mit Daten von 1975 bis 1989 online verf\u00fcgbar sein.<\/p>\n

Eine Aufnahme des R\u00e9pertoire d’art et d’arch\u00e9ologie<\/em> (RAA), das bibliografische Angaben und Abstracs der Jahre 1973 bis 1989 zur europ\u00e4ischen und amerikanischen Kunstgeschichte und Architektur enthielt, ist nicht geplant.<\/p>\n

Ob die kostenfreie Datenbank weitergef\u00fchrt werden kann, bleibt abzuwarten. Das Getty Research Institute (GRI) h\u00e4lt sich in einer vorbereiteten Erkl\u00e4rung bedeckt:<\/p>\n

„We realize that free access to the existing BHA on the Getty Web site is only one facet of a more comprehensive solution to the question of the future of bibliography in art history. To begin addressing the question more fully, the GRI has received a grant from the Kress Foundation to convene a meeting of an international task force of art librarians, scholars, and information specialists from Europe and the United States, to be held in New York later this month. The group will consider developing more sustainable and collaborative ways of supporting the bibliography of art history in the future.
