Seit 2005 digitalisieren die verschiedenen Einrichtungen ihre Best\u00e4nde zur Biodiversit\u00e4t und stellen diese auf einer kostenfreien Online-Plattform zu Verf\u00fcgung. Mit fast 50.000 Titeln und mehr als 35 Mio. Seiten gilt die BHL als weltweit f\u00fchrendes Digitalisierungsprojekt f\u00fcr Biodiversit\u00e4tsliteratur. Neben B\u00fcchern finden sich auch ca. 2000 Zeitschriftentitel. Der Fokus konzentriert sich \u00fcberwiegend auf gemeinfreie Werke, die vor 1920 ver\u00f6ffentlicht wurden.<\/p>\n<p>Die Inhalte k\u00f6nnen kostenfrei eingesehen, ausgedruckt und u. a. im PDF-, OCR-Text- oder JPG2000-Format abgespeichert werden. Die Inhalte der Datenbank speisen u. a. die im Aufbau befindliche <a href=\"https:\/\/eol.org\/\">Encyclopedia of Life (EOL)<\/a>.
