Even though she did not become an assistant professor\u00a0until her fiftieth year, Mabel Timlin advanced from department\u00a0secretary to full professor at the University of Saskatchewan,\u00a0the first woman outside the natural sciences elected a Fellow\u00a0of the Royal Society of Canada, the first woman to be president\u00a0of the Canadian Political Science Association (which then\u00a0included economics), one of the first ten women and one of the\u00a0first Canadians on the executive committee of the American Economic\u00a0Association, an active participant in the International Economic\u00a0Association, and an outspoken critic of the Bank of Canada&#8217;s\u00a0monetary policy.<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In cooperation with the Embassy of Canada to Germany, the John F.
