\"\"Prof. Dr. Anatol Stefanowitsch<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

I was born in Berlin’s notorious (but actually very nice) Neuk\u00f6lln district and have studied and taught in Houston, Hamburg and Bremen before joining the Freie Universit\u00e4t in 2012. In my research, I study English grammar, metaphor and framing, and political (or politicized) language. In my free time, I like to take long walks through Berlin’s varied neighborhoods, eat at the many great restaurants in this city or sit on my balcony and tweet about current events from a linguistic perspective. I do not teach in the intruductory module this year, but you will get to know me when you take your “Levels of Linguistic Analysis” module.<\/p>\n

\"KirstenDr. Kirsten Middeke<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

I studied English linguistics at the Freie Universit\u00e4t Berlin, linguistics, literature and Celtic civilization at University College Dublin, German as a Foreign Language at the Humboldt University Berlin and literary translation at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universit\u00e4t M\u00fcnchen. I worked as a language teacher and translator before getting my PhD in English Linguistics with a dissertation on Old English argument structure constructions at the Freie Universit\u00e4t. Besides historical linguistics and construction grammar, I enjoy a good coffee or a cold MioMate, hand-made music and anything outdoor.<\/p>\n

\"SaraShuk Han Ho<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

I came to Germany in 2012 and received a BA in English Philology and a MA in Linguistics from the Freie Universit\u00e4t Berlin. This summer, I started working on my PhD in sociolinguistics. I come from a multilingual family (I speak Cantonese, Mandarin, English, German and a little bit Spanish) and enjoy learning how different languages work and getting to know people from different cultures. In my spare time, I enjoy listening to classical music and eating good food.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alexander Rauhut<\/strong><\/a>\"\"<\/p>\n

I am currently a PhD candidate at FU. My research revolves around lexical categorization, cognition and statistical methods. Before, I studied English Linguistics and Communication Science in Jena. When I\u2019m not digging through scatter plots, I indulge in the nerdy pleasures of life, such as creating and consuming progressive music, software tinkering, and lifting weights.<\/p>\n

Britta Stuhl<\/strong><\/a>\"\"<\/p>\n

I got my BA in English Studies with a minor in Italian from the University of Hamburg before coming to the Freie Universit\u00e4t Berlin for my MA in Linguistics. I\u2019m currently working on my PhD thesis on the phonology of German in Namibia where I get to focus on the topics I enjoy most: phonetics\/phonology, variation & change and sociolinguistics. When I\u2019m not searching corpora or listening to audio recordings to identify phonological features, I like photography, the occasional gaming session and trying to learn more languages (I speak German, Romanian and English and am working to improve my Italian, Spanish and very basic Arabic skills).<\/span><\/p>\n
