{"id":1480,"date":"2014-04-15T12:07:17","date_gmt":"2014-04-15T10:07:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.fu-berlin.de\/nederlands\/?p=1480"},"modified":"2014-04-14T07:52:21","modified_gmt":"2014-04-14T05:52:21","slug":"pars-pro-toto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.fu-berlin.de\/nederlands\/2014\/04\/15\/pars-pro-toto\/","title":{"rendered":"Pars pro toto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In een vorig <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.fu-berlin.de\/nederlands\/2014\/04\/05\/meine-erste-transitstrecke\/\" target=\"_blank\">blog<\/a> had ik het over Duitsland dat door Limburgers als (historisch) pars pro toto <em>Pruusjes<\/em> (Pruisen) wordt genoemd.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 210px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/wiki\/File:Holland_position.svg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" \" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/thumb\/6\/69\/Holland_position.svg\/200px-Holland_position.svg.png\" width=\"200\" height=\"236\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Noord- en Zuidholland (File: Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Hetzelfde pars pro toto geldt natuurlijk voor de benaming <i>Holland<\/i> die heus niet alleen in Duitsland voor <i>Nederland<\/i> wordt gebezigd (<i>gebraucht, verwendet<\/i>).<\/p>\n<p>Om die fout nu voor eens en voor altijd uit de wereld te helpen \u2013 u verstaat toch een woordje Engels? \u2013 een kleine <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=eE_IUPInEuc\" target=\"_blank\">illustratie<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ook deze misvatting (Holland \/ Nederland) heeft historische redenen: het noordwesten van het tegenwoordige Nederland was een belangrijke <em>global player<\/em> in de zeventiende eeuw.<\/p>\n<p>Dat het <i>Koninkrijk der Nederlanden<\/i> zichzelf overal als <i>Holland<\/i> verkoopt (tot groot verdriet van Limburgers en andere landgenoten), maakt het er natuurlijk niet makkelijker op!<\/p>\n<p>Maar dat wist u natuurlijk allemaal al\u2026 verschoning dus!
