[1] Suggestion K. Simko.

[2] See for this phrase expressions like […] ⌈EGIR⌉-šu2 ina A PU2 ša2 E2 dAMAR.UTU in BAM 533:14.

[3] Cf. the parallels to this incantation in BAM 533:58-63 (var. ⌈EN2⌉ ul ḫe2-ši-in ul ḫe2-ši-in / an-ni-bi-iš kum-ma-⸢a⸣ : ki-še3 nam-gi-si-sa2 / mu-bi na-an-gi-<si->⸢sa2⸣ : ḫu-ub-bi-in la ḫu-ub-bi-in / ḫu-ub-bi-⸢in⸣ : ḫu-ub-ba-ab-ḫi-in / keš2-er šu-⌈u8?⌉ mu(-)⌈gi⌉(-)ir-ra-an-ni-eš3-še ku-dug/lud pa-an / mu-uš-ka-tab-ba ku-ka-ad-dar TU6.EN2) and BAM 537 obv 1’-5’ (var. ⸢EN2⌉ ⌈ul⸣ […] / ⸢an?-ta⌉ na-an-⸢gi⌉ x x […] / [x] x en bi si-sa2 : pa […] / [x (x)] be2-en la x x […] / [x x] x x x […]) as well as SpTU I, 46:21-26 (EN2 ul-ḫi-ši-in MIN an-ni-ni-eš2 qu-ma-a / ki-še3 nam-gi-si-sa2 mu-bi na-an-gi-si-si / ḫu-ub-[b]i-en la-ḫu-ub-bi-en / [ḫ]u-bi-en-ḫu-ub-bi-en : gi-si-ir su-uʾ-kul-lu / [sa/ir]-ra-an-[ni] ku-ul-pa-nu mu-uš-ka-tab-ba / ku-uk-ka-ad-dal [T]U6 [EN2]) and MMA 86.11.426+ (CTMMA 2, 31) Vs. 3‘-6‘ which all suggest a rather unsteady or corrupt form of this incantation in nA/nB time.

[4] Restoration according to Babmed Corpus AMT 60/3:4’ff. But the traces on the actual fragment do not look like ḪI.

[5] Cf. the parallel BAM 533 noting mu-gi ir-ra-an-ni(-)eš3-še ku/še3? dug/lud pa-an.

[6] Cf. the parallel SpTU I, 46 (lB excerpt-series) obv 6-8 and its commentary SpTU I, 47 obv 2-5.

[7] See for the interpretation as IZI “fire” instead of KUM2 “fever” SpTU I, 46, p. 56.

[8] Cf. the possible parallel or at least very similar prescription in BAM 398 obv 1-7 as well as AMT 52/5:16-17.

[9] Cf. the very similar use of materia medica at the end of col. ii and the beginning of col. iii as well as BAM 398 obv 1-7 ([ana …] rimûti šupšui) whose following passage is paralleled in NECK 5 iii as well.

[10] Restore maybe MUD2 NIG2.GIG MUNUS of A ii l. 16’.

[11] For zumbu mê “water-fly”, listed among other kinds of flies (e.g., honey-fly) in Ur5-ra XIV ll. 323ff.; s. CAD Z s.v. zumbu lex. sec. (comment K. Simko).

[12] The copy AMT 82/2 notes the signs as undamaged but the actual tablet shows some damages within the position of the entry’s first three lines.

[13] Usually only the date-palm variety gišGIŠIMMAR.KUR.RA (gurummaru) is written with the sumerian phonetic complement RA whereas the suggested gišGIŠIMMAR.TUR (suuššu or tālu) has a variant writing gišGIŠIMMAR.TUR.TUR. A scribal error can therefore not be excluded.

[14] The interpretation is uncertain. The word kim-si might be derived from kamāsu “to lean, bow” and ša2-ḫa-su (šaḫāt-šu) “armpit(?)” refers to a similar area like uppi aḫi “upper arm” or “upper arm/shoulder joint”. The following alleged verbal form has been interpreted here as 2. sg. m. from padû “to spare, release” (tapaddī?), a word otherwise not attested in medical contexts. Other interpretations like the reading of ḫad/t/ instead of pa are likewise possible but all possible verbs seem to be highly improbable within the present context.
