{"id":346,"date":"2018-05-03T14:33:27","date_gmt":"2018-05-03T12:33:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.fu-berlin.de\/reseda\/?page_id=346"},"modified":"2018-10-15T15:32:29","modified_gmt":"2018-10-15T13:32:29","slug":"snap","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.fu-berlin.de\/reseda\/snap\/","title":{"rendered":"SNAP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>S<\/strong>e<strong>N<\/strong>tinel <strong>A<\/strong>pplication <strong>P<\/strong>latform (<strong>SNAP<\/strong>) is an open source architecture for European Space Agency (ESA) toolboxes designed for exploitation of earth observation data under the the Scientific Exploitation of Operational Missions (SEOM) programme. SNAP is the common architecture for the Sentinel 1, 2 and 3 Toolboxes, which support the scientific exploitation for the ERS-ENVISAT missions, the Sentinel 1\/2\/3 missions and a range of national and third party missions. Those toolboxes contain the functionalities of previous toolboxes such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brockmann-consult.de\/cms\/web\/beam\/\" target=\"_blank\">BEAM<\/a>, NEST and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orfeo-toolbox.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Orfeo<\/a> Toolbox. The main functionality is listed in the main menu under the menu items <strong>Raster<\/strong>, <strong>Optical<\/strong> and <strong>Radar<\/strong>. Those are also accessible via the graph builder <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.fu-berlin.de\/reseda\/files\/2018\/05\/SNAP_buttons_05.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"34\" height=\"32\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-899\" \/>, which we will use to automate and chain operations later on<\/li>\n<li><strong><font color=\"#6b9e1f\">2 Product Explorer<\/font><\/strong>: lists all loaded data products along with their metadata and band information. The Pixel Info tab allows you to get all the information about the coordinates and raster values of where the mouse pointer is pointing. Double click a band in order to visualize it in the Image View panel, or right click a file and choose &#8220;open RGB image window&#8221; for a RGB composite<\/li>\n<li><strong><font color=\"#6b9e1f\">3 Navigation Tool Window<\/font><\/strong>: The <strong>Navigation <\/strong>and <strong>World View<\/strong> tabs allow you to spatially locate the current image view in the overall picture and on a 3d globe. Furthermore the <strong>Color Manipulation<\/strong> tab allows visual adjustments via histogram stretching<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><font color=\"#6b9e1f\">4 Product Library<\/font><\/strong>: browse and view metadata of your locally stored Sentinel data products or search for new data sets on the ESA SciHUB servers. If multiple data sets are open, you can switch back and forth between them by clicking on the tabs at the top of the Image View or tile them vertically or horizontal by clicking on <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.fu-berlin.de\/reseda\/files\/2018\/05\/SNAP_buttons.png\" width=\"126\" height=\"30\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-894\" \/> in the toolbar (1).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There is an official science toolbox expoitation platform, <a href=\"http:\/\/step.esa.int\/main\/toolboxes\/snap\/\" target=\"_blank\">STEP <\/a> for short. On this website you can access <a href=\"http:\/\/step.esa.int\/main\/doc\/tutorials\/\" target=\"_blank\">useful video tutorials<\/a> showing most of the basic functionalities of SNAP.
