On august 8. at 8.00 am in our ger there was chaos because we expected to leave soon. 7 hours later the bus came and the Mongolian students Ariuna, Sainaa, Boldoo, Dr. Batbayar and we were ready to leave. 35 km later we arrived at our private veterinarian, Dr. Namsrai and his wife Tsendjav, who welcomed us with tea and a delicious mutton soup. In the evening we made a trip to a mountain river which is totally frozen in wintertime, where we washed our hair and the vodka was passed around.
The next morning we started to our sheep. We herded the sheep into a stonewalled area where we first tried how fit we were at catching sheep. But only with our great helpers we succeeded. We weight, sexed and eartagged them and took fecal samples. With a mirror-microscope we tried to see anything in the form of an egg. After pauzing for the moment we enjoyed the incredibil mountain view and yak riding. Returning to the private veterinarian’s laboratory, we examined the samples to get a grip on an egg. At midnight we celebrated my birthday with sweets and a worker’s drink to find new power for the next few hours. At sunrise we finished our work with some success.
After a good „buuz“ breakfast we started to treat our beloved sheep. Our work was payed with new experience, smiling faces and a sheep in the back of the bus.
