Customize your study plan
You can choose from a variety of elective modules as described below. Elective modules give you the opportunity to customize your study plan according to your own personal interests. However, you cannot choose whatever module you like. We have a predefined selection of elective modules that are available and approved to count for the CPs.
These modules can be found in the electronic course catalog under the “Wahlpflichtbereich”:
As you can see, these modules are often part of different master programs at FU Berlin, e.g. Biochemistry, Biology, Physics etc. and can count for different numbers of credit points.
To complete your master’s degree, you need to select a number x of different modules that sum up to, at least, 10 CPs (more CPs is not a problem). These modules can be distributed over different semesters.
Registration for the elective modules depends on the module:
Most theoretical modules can be registered easily through Campus Management.
For some lab courses with limited number of participants you need to show up at the time, date, and location that is indicated in the course catalog to register and get a spot.
