As we´ve discussed earlier in the seminar, we are able to read the text above although the spelling is almost completely wrong. But would we be able to read words that are new to us aswell? Would the context and our already gained knowledge about the English language be enough or would we have difficulties reading completely unfamiliar words?

Probably not.  But the question is: why does it work for words that we do know?
