Theocharis Grigoriadis, American University of Beirut, Libanon. 19.04.-28.02.2023

This is Theocharis Grigoriadis, Professor of Economics and East European Studies at Freie Universität Berlin, Germany. I have completed my mobility from 19.04.2023 to 28.02.2023 at American University of Beirut as an Erasmus+ Guest Professor. During my stay at AUB, I prepared with my partners at the host university various DAAD and DFG grant applications, while actively participating in teaching activities with Master students on campus. I was very impressed by the very high level of AUB students and by the cooperative spirit of my Lebanese partners. There is a strong interest about research and teaching cooperation with Europe and I am convinced that, given the current circumstances in the Arab world, Lebanon offers unique opportunities for the development of EU-Arab cooperation in the areas of research and education. Moreover, the Erasmus+ World Team in Berlin did everything possible to facilitate a successful and safe mobility to Lebanon offering every possible assistance in that direction. The Erasmus+ mobility allowed me to expand my research horizons tremendously and start developing a new area of expertise, in Middle Eastern economic development and transition.
