Summer, sunshine … term paper. As soon as the semester is over, it’s already back to work? If you do not want to take a postponed term paper with you on vacation, we might have something for you.

The summer writing week starts with a revised and expanded programme. With the support of our department libraries and colleagues from various areas of Freie Universität, the University Library and SchreibGeist – Geisteswissenschaftliche Schreibwerkstatt offer a week of events on scientific writing, which are not only dedicated to the humanities.

Regardless of whether you are just starting out with your first paper at university or hold some writing experience: During the writing week, among other things, you will receive tips on

  • how to plan and organize your writing process
  • how to find relevant literature and sources on your topic
  • how to structure your thoughts

Our programme ranges from assistance in finding and developing a topic, introductions to scientific research and research strategies, questions dealing with sources, mind mapping and organizing an argument, to motivation strategies and problems with German academic language – thus offers support for current and future writing projects.

In addition to the counselling service, you can also attend a supervised writing group, which offers the opportunity to apply your newly acquired skills and to advance your own writing project throughout the afternoons. This could be the perfect opportunity to finish the first term paper before vacation, thus promising a perfect start to the lecture-free period!
