Participatory and Hybrid Media in West Africa: A Case Study of Call-In Radio Shows in Benin (West Africa)
The research project analyses current changes in communication practices and political culture in West Africa.
It does so by examining case studies of interactive-participatory radio shows on social problems in the Republic of Benin.
The project focuses on the frequent participants (frequent callers) of these programs, known as grogneurs. The study will particularly examine their position within new information cycles, their communicative practices, and their relationships with journalists, politicians, and other media users.
