Inspired by their participation in the PhD Workshop” Sustainable Development Research – an Interdisciplinary Chance or Challenge?”, three PhD students have initiated a workshop series at their home university, the University of Edinburgh.

The interdisciplinary PhD workshop. held as part of the digital UAS conference in November 2020 brought PhD students from all over the world together to discuss their research in the context of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for five days.

In this blogpost, Emma Yule, Kim Vender and Zakary Campbell-Lochrie share their insights from attending the workshop as well as the plans they have to start a workshop series for research exchange around the SDGs at the University of Edinburgh.

We are very pleased with the positive response to the UAS PhD workshop and the wonderful new initiative it has sparked at the University of Edinburgh.

After 7 workshops & 3 Training sessions during 2 months of virtual networking, on-demand and live sessions the UAS Workshop Series and PhD sessions 2020 has come to an end. Thank you all for your engagement and fruitful contributions!

Thanks to the digital format 139 sustainability experts from over 26 countries came together to exchange ideas and network representing a total of 51 universities and 13 institutions.

It was a pleasure to host so many sustainability experts in our virtual conference setting and we are looking forward to continuing the UAS Conference in a digital format next year. A detailed documentation of the program and pictures is now online on our website here.

We invite you to  read our short tutorial on how to use Webex for the workshop live sessions to prepare for a great live experience.

For those who want to be on the safe side, we offer a test session before our event. During the test session you can familiarize yourself with the interface, test the handling of the individual functions (such as sharing your screen, sound/camera, chat function, etc.).
