Season Four: Good Supervision

A good supervisory relationship is crucial to the success of the doctorate. Dahlem Research School (DRS) is committed to supporting doctoral researchers in shaping their supervisory relationship. You can find the various offers on the website.

Each year DRS presents the Award for Excellent Supervision to two professors at Freie Universität Berlin in recognition of their exceptional supervisory work. What makes this award unique is that doctoral researchers themselves nominate their supervisors. A panel consisting of doctoral researchers and staff members of Dahlem Research School evaluates the anonymized proposals and selects the award winners. The award includes a grant dedicated to the ongoing support of doctoral researchers. The distinct feature of this award is that it is based on nominations from the doctoral researchers.

In interviews with the award winners we want to find out what qualifies them for the award, what they do differently, and if they have a secret recipe.
