Empowerment workshops | 10th & 17th December | 9 am – 12.30 pm – How can you manage your academic career with your care work? The Dahlem Research School offers two dates for an empowerment workshop for doctoral candidates & researchers who are parents or deal with care responsibilities. 14 spots are available. Please register beforhand. The workshops will be held in English.
Mother*/father*hood, caring for family members and doing doctoral research – (how) does that go together? The workshop is intended to give doctoral researchers with care responsibilities a space in which they can discuss the challenges of juggling academic and care work.
Together with the workshop speaker, the participants will identify and critically discuss gender-specific structures, dominant discourses and invisible expectations that are effective in the field of academia and family, and develop ideas and strategies that junior researchers can use to reduce stress and strengthen their position. The workshop is also suitable for doctoral candidates who wish to have children and want to deal with the topic in advance.
There are 14 spots available for PhD-students, if there are free spots, postdocs can also participate.
