Bis zum 3. März 2021 kann über das Campusnetz auf die Datenbank Caribbean Colonial Statistics from the British Empire, 1824-1950 zugegriffen werden (nur Lesezugriff, keine Download-Funktion).
Die Datenbank von British Online Archives enthält statistische Aufzeichnungen des Britischen Weltreichs über verschiedene Kolonien in der Karibik, mit einigen Ausnahmen hauptsächlich aus dem Zeitraum 1839 bis 1938. Insgesamt wurden über 188.000 Seiten von 88 Dokumenten in 21 Bänden digitalisiert.
Die Daten des British Foreign & Commonwealth Office stammen u. a. aus den Blaubüchern (»Blue books«) in welchen die diplomatischen Verhandlungen, Noten, Berichte, insbesondere aber die Korrespondenzen zwischen dem Ministerium des Auswärtigen und den Vertretern des britischen Kabinetts im Ausland festgehalten wurden (benannt nach den blauen Umschlägen).
Neben einer kurzen Einführung über die jeweilige Kolonie sind Bevölkerungszahlen, Bildungsberichte, Grundstücksgeschäfte, Import- und Exportzahlen sowie Gefängnisunterlagen über Verbrechen zur damaligen Zeit veröffentlicht. Damit lassen sich die Lebensbedingungen und der Zugang zu Dienstleistungen in den verschiedenen Kolonien vergleichen.
Die Informationen liegen als Original-Image-Dateien vor. Transkripte sind nicht vorhanden.

Until March 3, 2020 the database Caribbean Colonial Statistics from the British Empire, 1824-1950 is available for a trial via the FU Campus Network (Read-Only-Version, no Download availabe).
Published by the British Online Archives the database presents statistics from the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office (»Blue books«). It consists of 188,844 pages belonging to 88 documents housed in 21 volumes.
For the most part these statistical records cover the years from 1839 to 1938, although some records commence from 1824 and others continue until 1950. The records for each colony are prefaced by a brief introduction to that colony. The population returns are published alongside education reports, while grants of land reveal who held the colonial wealth. Imports and exports are joined by prison records which reveal what the crimes were at that time.
As these records are published together, the reader can compare the living conditions and access to services across colonies. The imperial statistics in this collection are listed by year for ease of reference (original image files, no transcripts).
